தெலங்கானா வலியுறுத்தி போராடிய மாணவர்கள் மீது கண்ணீர் புகை குண்டு வீச்சு.

ஐதராபாத்: தெலங்கானா தனி மாநில கோரிக்கை வலியுறுத்தி உஸ்மானியா பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் பிஎச்டி படித்து வந்த மாணவர் ஒருவர் நேற்று தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டார். இதை தொடர்ந்து மாணவர்கள் வன்முறையில் இறங்கினர். போலீசார் மீது கல்வீசி தாக்குதல் நடத்தப்பட்டது. பதிலுக்கு போலீசார் மாணவர்கள் மீது கண்ணீர் புகை குண்டு வீசினர்.

இதனால் ஐதராபாத்தில் பதற்றம் ஏற்பட்டது.
ஆந்திராவில் தெலங்கானா பகுதியை தனி மாநிலமாக அறிவிக்கக்கோரி கடந்த 3 ஆண்டுகளாக பல்வேறு போராட்டங்கள் நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன. இந்த போராட்டத்தில் ஐதராபாத்தில் உள்ள உஸ்மானிய பல்கலைக்கழக மாணவர்கள் முக்கிய பங்கெடுத்து வருகின்றனர். இதுவரை தெலங்கானா போராட்டம்
காரணமாக மொத்தம் 873 பேர் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர். இதில் 463 பேர் மாணவர்கள்.இந்நிலையில் நேற்று காலை உஸ்மானியா பல்கலைக்கழகம் அருகே உள்ள மரத்தில் தூக்கிட்டு சந்தோஷ்குமார் என்ற பிஎச்டி மாணவர் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டார். தெலங்கானா தனி மாநில விவகாரத்தில் மத்திய அரசு காலதாமதம் ஏற்படுத்துவதை கண்டித்து தற்கொலை செய்து கொள்வதாக கடிதம் எழுதி வைத்திருந்தார்.

அடிலாபாத்தை சேர்ந்த இவர் எம்எஸ்சி, பி.எட் படித்து விட்டு பிஎச்டி படிப்புக்காக கடந்த ஆண்டு தான் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் சேர்ந்தார்.
பிரேத பரிசோதனைக்குப்பின் அவரது சடலத்தை 100க்கும் மேற்பட்ட மாணவர்கள் ஊர்வலமாக எடுத்துச் சென்றனர். தெலங்கானாவுக்கு ஆதரவாக கோஷம்
எழுப்பினர். பின்னர் அடிலாபாத்திலிருந்து வந்திருந்த அவரது பெற்றோர்களிடம் உடல் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டது. வன்முறை ஏற்படலாம் என்ற அச்சத்தில் பல்கலைக்கழகத்துக்கு வெளியே போலீசார் குவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தனர். திடீரென போலீசார் மீது கல்வீசி தாக்குதல் நடத்தப்பட்டது. பேருந்துகள் மீதும் கல்வீசப்பட்டது.

இதை தொடர்ந்து மாணவ்£களை கலைக்க போலீசார் கண்ணீர் புகை குண்டு வீசினர். சில மணி நேரம் அங்கு பதற்றம் நிலவியது. கூடுதல் படைகள் வரவழைக்கப்பட்டு நிலைமை கட்டுக்குள் கொண்டு
வரப்பட்டது.

ஒரே ஒரு இந்தியர் வெற்றி!

வாஷிங்டன்: அமெரிக்க தேர்லில் போட்டியிட்ட இந்திய வம்சாவளியினர் ஐந்து பேரில், ஒருவர் மட்டுமே வெற்றி பெற்றுள்ளார். அமெரிக்க தேர்தலில், இந்திய வம்சா வளியினர், ஒன்பது பேர், வேட்பு மனு தாக்கல் செய்திருந்தனர். கடைசி நேரத்தில், நான்கு பேர் போட்டியிலிருந்து விலகினர். ஐந்து பேர் மட்டும் களத்தில் இருந்தனர்.
நியூஜெர்சியிலிருந்து உபேந்திரா சிவுக்லா, கலிபோர்னியாவிலிருந்து அமி பெரா மற்றும் ரஞ்சித், பென்சில்வேனியாவிலிருந்து மனன் திரிவேதி, மிச்சிகனிலிருந்து சையத் தாஜ் ஆகியோர் போட்டியிட்டனர். இதில், ரஞ்சித் மட்டும் குடியரசு கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்தவர்; மற்றவர்கள் ஜனநாயக கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள்.
கலிபோர்னியாவில் போட்டியிட்ட, அமி பெரா,45, மட்டும் பிரதிநிதிகள் சபைக்கு தேர்வாகியுள்ளார்.
இவர் மயிரிழையில் வெற்றி பெற்றுள்ளார். ஜனநாயக கட்சி வேட்பாளரான அமி பெரா பெற்ற ஓட்டுக்கள், 88,406. இவரை எதிர்த்து போட்டியிட்ட குடியரசு கட்சி வேட்பாளர் டேன் லங்ரன், 88,222 ஓட்டுக்கள் பெற்றுள்ளார்.
இந்திய வம்சாவளியை சேர்ந்த, மற்ற நான்கு வேட்பாளர்களும் தோல்வியடைந்துள்ளனர்.

 

காற்றழுத்த தாழ்வு நிலை அரபிக்கடலுக்கு நகர்ந்தது: வானிலை மையம் தகவல்

வங்கக் கடலில்   கடந்த  மாதம் உருவான குறைந்த காற்றழுத்த  தாழ்வு நிலை அரபிக் கடலுக்கு நகர்ந்து  புயலாக மாறி சோமாலிய  நாட்டு கடற்கரையை கடந்தது. அப்போது தமிழ்நாட்டில் பரவலாக மழை பெய்தது.
 
இதன் பிறகு வங்கக் கடலில் அந்தமான்   தீவு அருகே மற்றொரு  காற்றழுத்த தாழ்வு நிலை உருவானது. இது புயலாக   மாறி கடந்த 31-ந்தேதி மகாபலிபுரம் வழியாக  கரையை    கடந்து  ஆந்திரா சென்றது.
 
இந்த புயலுக்கு நீலம் என்று  பெயர் சூட்டி இருந்தனர்.  ஆந்திரா சென்ற இந்த புயலால் அங்கு பலத்த மழை  கொட்டியது. தமிழ்நாட்டில் நீலம் புயல் கரையை  கடந்தபோது காற்று  கடுமையாக வீசியது. இதில் சென்னையில் ஏராளமான மரங்கள் சாய்ந்தன.
 
இந்த நிலையில் தென்மேற்கு வங்க கடலில் இலங்கைக்கு   அருகில் புதிய காற்றழுத்த தாழ்வு நிலை நேற்று உருவாகியிருந்தது. இது தமிழகத்தை நோக்கி நகரும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்பட்டது. ஆனால் இந்த காற்றழுத்த தாழ்வு அரபிக்கடலுக்கு நகர்ந்து சென்றுவிட்டது.
 
இது பற்றி சென்னை வானிலை ஆய்வு மைய இயக்குனர் ரமணன் கூறியதாவது:-
 
தென்மேற்கு வங்கக்கடலில் உருவான காற்றழுத்த தாழ்வு நிலை குமரி நோக்கி நகர்ந்து கர்நாடாகாவை ஒட்டி உள்ள அரபிக்கடலை நோக்கி சென்றுவிட்டது. இதனால் தென் மாவட்டங்களில் ஓரிரு இடங்களில்தான் மழை பெய்யும்.
 
வட மாவட்டங்கள் மற்றும் புதுச்சேரியில் சில பகுதிகளில் மட்டுமே மழை கிடைக்கும். மொத்தத்தில் தமிழ்நாட்டில் படிப்படியாக மழை குறையும். நேற்று அதிகபட்சமாக பெரியகுளத்தில் 9செ.மீ மழை பெய்துள்ளது.
 
இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.
 
 

மேலூர் அருகே டெங்கு காய்ச்சலுக்கு 4-ம் வகுப்பு மாணவி பலி

மேலூர்,நவ.8-

மதுரை மாவட்டம் மேலூர் அருகே உள்ள வெள்ளாளபட்டியை சேர்ந்தவர் ராஜா. இவரது மகள் சுவேதா (வயது9). இவள் அங்குள்ள பள்ளி ஒன்றில் 4-ம் வகுப்பு படித்து வந்தாள். இவள் கடந்த 10 நாட்களாக காய்ச்சலால் அவதிப்பட்டு வந்தாள். இதற்காக மேலூர் அரசு ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வந்தாள்.

நோய் குணமாக வில்லை. இந்த நிலையில் சுவேதாவுக்கு காய்ச்சல் அதிகமானது. இதனை தொடர்ந்து அவளை மதுரை அரசு ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சேர்த்தனர். அங்கு அவளுக்கு டாக்டர்கள் தீவிர சிகிச்சை அளித்து வந்தனர். நேற்று இரவு சிகிச்சை பலன் அளிக்காமல் சுவேதா பரிதாபமாக இறந்தாள். மேலூர் பகுதியில் டெங்கு காய்ச்சல் தாக்கி தினமும் ஒருவர் இறந்து வருகிறார்கள்.

இதுவரை மேலூர் பகுதியில் டெங்கு காய்ச்சலுக்கு 31 பேர் இறந்துள்ளனர். மேலூர் பகுதியில் பரவி வரும் டெங்கு காய்ச்சலை தடுக்க மாவட்ட நிர்வாகம் தீவிர நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று அப்பகுதி மக்கள் தொடர்ந்து கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளனர்.
 
 

இளைஞர்களுக்கு துணிவிருந்தால்....: ஒபாமா சவால்

வாஷிங்டன்: இளைஞர்கள் தங்களுக்கு துணிவிருந்தால், கடும் பாதுகாப்புள்ள வெள்ளை மாளிகைக்குள் நுழைந்தால், அவர்கள் கூறுவதை தான் காது கொடுத்து கேட்கவுள்ளதாக மீண்டும் அமெரிக்க அதிபராகியுள்ள ஒபாமா சவால் விடுத்துள்ளார். அமெரிக்காவின் அதிபராக இரண்டாம் முறையாக ஒபாமா தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். இதன் பின்னர் அவர் கூறுகையில், “எனது குழந்தைகள் மலியா (14) மற்றும் சாஷா (11) குறித்து தான் பெருமைப்படுகிறேன். அவர்கள் தற்போது மிக வேகமாக வளர்ந்து, இளம்பெண்களாக, நம்பிக்கை மிகுந்தவர்களாக வளர்ந்து வருகின்றனர். இயல்பாகவே அவர்களுடன் டேட்டிங் செல்ல இளைஞர்கள் விரும்புவது இயற்கையே. இளைஞர்கள் தங்களுக்கு துணிவிருந்தால், கடும் பாதுகாப்புள்ள வெள்ளை மாளிகைக்குள் நுழைந்து என்னை வந்து சந்திக்கட்டும். அவர்கள் கூறுவதை நான் காது கொடுத்து கேட்கிறேன்” என்று தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.  

மேலூரில் இதுவரை டெங்கு மற்றும் காய்ச்சலுக்கு 33 பேர் பலி

மதுரை, மேலூர் வட்டத்தில் டெங்கு மற்றும் காய்ச்சல் பாதித்து உயிரிழந்தவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கைள் 33 ஆக உயர்ந்துள்ளது.
புதன்கிழமை நள்ளரவில் இருந்து இன்று வரை 4 வயது குழந்தை உட்பட 3 பேர் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர். இவர்கள் அனைவருமே மதுரை ராஜாஜி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வந்தனர்.
நேற்று இரவு கொட்டக்குடி கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்த பரமாண்டி மகள் காயத்ரி (12) என்ற பெண் உயிரிழந்தாள். வியாழக்கிழமையன்று தெற்குத் தெருவில் உள்ள டி. வெள்ளாளப்பட்டியைச் சேர்ந்த ராஜா மகள் சுவேதா (10), தெற்குத் தெரு கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்த முருகன் மகன் ராஜன் பெருமாள் (4), அட்டப்பட்டி அருகே உள்ள மணியம்பட்டி கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்த மலைராஜாவின் மகள் அம்மு என்கிற நட்சத்திரா (3) ஆகிய மூவரும் இன்று உயிரிழந்தனர்.
மதுரையில் மேலூர் பகுதியில் மட்டும் பாதித்து வந்த டெங்கு காய்ச்சல் தற்போது மதுரையின் பிற பகுதிகளுக்கும் பரவி வருவதாக கூறப்படுகிறது.
இந்த நிலையில், டெங்கு காய்ச்சலுக்கு மேலூரில் இதுவரை 7 பேர் மட்டுமே உயிரிழந்துள்ளதாகவும், மற்றவர்கள் பிற காரணங்களால் இறந்ததாகவும் சுகாதாரத் துறை நேற்று அறிவித்துள்ளது.

 

தீபாவளி முடிந்து சென்னை செல்ல சிறப்பு ரயில் சேவை இல்லை: பயணிகள் தவிப்பு

தீபாவளி முடிந்து சென்னை செல்ல இம் மாதம் 30-ம் தேதி வரை அனைத்து ரயில்களிலும் முன்பதிவு முடிந்து விட்டதால், பயணிகள் தவிப்புக்கு உள்ளாகியுள்ளனர்.
 தீபாவளி பண்டிகைக்கு இன்னும் 6 நாள்களே உள்ளன. சென்னையிலிருந்து நாகர்கோவிலுக்கு இம் மாதம் 10, 12-ம் தேதிகளில் சிறப்பு ரயில்கள் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. அவற்றுக்கான முன்பதிவு தொடங்கிய 8 நிமிடங்களில் முடிந்துவிட்டது.
 அதேபோல, தீபாவளிக்கு முன்பாக 2 சிறப்பு ரயில்கள் நாகர்கோவிலிலிருந்து சென்னைக்கு இயக்கப்படுகின்றன.
 அவற்றில் ஒன்று சென்னை சென்ட்ரலுக்கு இம் மாதம் 11-ம் தேதி பிற்பகல் 1.20 மணிக்கும், மற்றொரு ரயில் எழும்பூருக்கு மாலை 5 மணிக்கும் புறப்படுகின்றன. அவற்றுக்கான முன்பதிவு இப்போது நடைபெறுகிறது.
 தீபாவளி முடிந்த பிறகு நாகர்கோவிலிலிருந்து சென்னை செல்ல சிறப்பு ரயில்கள் இன்னும் அறிவிக்கப்படவில்லை. வழக்கமாக இயக்கப்படும் கன்னியாகுமரி, அனந்தபுரி ரயில்களில் நவ. 13 முதல் 30 வரை முன்பதிவு டிக்கெட் இல்லை. குருவாயூர்-சென்னை ரயிலுக்கும் முன்பதிவு நவ. 13 முதல் 30 வரை முடிந்துவிட்டது.
 கன்னியாகுமரியிருந்து வாரந்தோறும் புதன்கிழமை எழும்பூர் வழியாக தில்லி செல்லும் நிஜாமுதீன் எக்ஸ்பிரஸிலும் டிக்கெட் இல்லை. அதில் நவ. 14-ம்தேதி முன்பதிவு செய்து காத்திருப்போர் பட்டியலில் 105 பேர் உள்ளனர்.
 சிறப்பு பஸ்: நாகர்கோவிலிலிருந்து சென்னை, பெங்களூர் செல்ல அரசு விரைவுப் போக்குவரத்துக் கழக பஸ்களில் இம் மாதம் 14, 15-ல் டிக்கெட் இல்லை. 16-ம் தேதி முதல் முன்பதிவு நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. அரசுப் போக்குவரத்துக் கழகங்கள் சார்பில் சென்னைக்கு சிறப்பு பஸ்கள் இயக்கப்படும் என முதல்வர் அறிவித்துள்ளார். நாகர்கோவில் மண்டலம் சார்பில் சிறப்பு பஸ்களை இயக்க அதிகாரிகள் நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர். ஆனால் அந்த பஸ்களுக்கு முன்பதிவு இல்லை எனக் கூறும் அதிகாரி ஒருவர், பயணிகளுக்கு வசதியாக பஸ்கள் தடையின்றி இயக்கப்படும் என்றார்.
 முன்பதிவு இல் லாவிட்டாலும், டோக்கன் வழங்கினால்கூட நம்பிக்கையுடன் பஸ்ஸில் செல்ல வாய்ப்பு ஏற்படும என பயணிகள்
 தெரிவிக்கின்றனர்.

 

ரயில்வே நிர்வாகத்தின் மீது வழக்கு எலி கடித்த சிறுவனின் தந்தை முடிவு

சென்னை:""கன்னியாகுமரி எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில் பெட்டியில், குழந்தையை எலி கடித்ததற்கு, ரயில்வே மூலம், முறையான நடவடிக்கை வேண்டும். இல்லையேல், வழக்கு தொடர்வேன்,'' என, குழந்தையின் தந்தை கூறினார்.நாகர்கோவிலை சேர்ந்தவர் மணிகண்டன். இவர், மனைவி மற்றும் இரண்டு குழந்தைகளுடன், நேற்று முன்தினம் இரவு, நாகர்கோவிலிலிருந்து கன்னியாகுமரி எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயிலில், சென்னை திரும்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.இவர்கள், இரண்டாம் வகுப்பு முன்பதிவு பெட்டியில், (எஸ்-4) பயணம் செய்தனர். ரயில் வள்ளியூரை நெருங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, படுக்கையில் தூங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்த, இவரது ஒன்றரை வயது மகன், யஷ்வந்தின் கையில் எலி கடித்து குதறியது.நேற்று காலை, ரயில் சென்னை எழும்பூர் வந்தடைந்ததும், நிலைய அதிகாரியிடம், மணிகண்டன் புகார் கடிதம் எழுதிக் கொடுத்தார்.

அந்த கடிதத்தில் அவர் கூறியுள்ளதாவது:தன் மகனை எலி கடித்ததும், உடனடியாக, மருத்துவ முதலுதவி கிடைக்கவில்லை. திருநெல்வேலி வந்த பிறகு தான், முதலுதவி செய்ய முடிந்தது. மதுரையில் டாக்டர் உதவி கேட்டிருந்தேன்; கிடைக்கவில்லை.ரயில் பெட்டி பராமரிப்பில், கோட்டை விட்டதால் தான், என் குழந்தைக்கு இந்த நிலை ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. சம்பந்தப்பட்டவர்கள் மீது, துறை ரீதியான நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும். எலி கடித்ததற்கு நஷ்ட ஈடு வழங்க வேண்டும்.இவ்வாறு அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
இது குறித்து மணிகண்டன் கூறுகையில், ""குழந்தையை எலி கடித்ததற்கு, ரயில்வே மூலம், முறையான நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படவில்லை என்றால், வழக்கு தொடர உள்ளேன்,'' என தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

கர்நாடக முன்னா‌ள் முதல்வர் எடியூரப்பாவின் புதிய கட்சிக்கு 60 பா.ஜ.க. எம்.எல்.ஏக்கள் ஆதரவு தெரிவித்துள்ளது பா.ஜ.க. அ‌தி‌ர்‌ச்‌சி அடை‌ந்து‌ள்ளது.
‌ஊழ‌ல் புகாரை தொட‌ர்‌ந்து க‌ர்நாடக முத‌ல்வ‌ர் பத‌வி‌யி‌ல் இரு‌ந்து ‌வில‌‌க்‌கினா‌ர் ‌பி.எ‌ஸ்.எடியூர‌ப்பா. இ‌ந்த‌‌ நிலை‌யி‌ல் புதிய கட்சி தொடங்க போவதாக கூறி வரும் எடியூரப்பாவிற்கு 60 பா.ஜ.க எம்.எல்.ஏக்களும், 11 எம்.பிக்களும் ஆதரவு தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். இதன‌ா‌ல் பா.ஜ.க. மே‌லிட‌‌த்தை அதிர்ச்சி அடையச் செய்துள்ளது.

புதிய கடசி தொடங்கிய பிறகு 60 பா.ஜ.க எம்.எல்.ஏக்களும், 11 எம்.பிக்களும் முதல்வர் ஜெகதீஷ் ஷெட்டருக்கு வெளியில் இருந்து ஆதரவு தருவார்கள் என்று‌ம் எடியூரப்பா கூறினார். 

 ரூ.235 கோடி‌யில் 121 பாலங்க‌ள் க‌ட்டு‌கிறா‌ர் ஜெயல‌லிதா

தமிழகத்தில் சாலைப் போக்குவரத்தை மேம்படுத்தும் வகையில் ரூ.235 கோடி செலவில் 121 பாலங்களைக் கட்ட முதல்வர் ஜெயல‌லிதா உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.

இது தொட‌ர்பாக தமிழக அரசு இ‌ன்று வெளியிட்டுள்ள செய்திக் குறிப்பில், இந்த ஆண்டு, 340.68 கோடி ரூபாய் மதிப்பில், சென்னை, அதன் சுற்றுபுறங்கள் மற்றும் ஏனைய மாவட்டங்களில் மேம்பாலங்கள், பாலங்கள், சுரங்க நடைபாதைகள், ஆகாய நடைபாதை ஆகியவற்றை அமைக்க முதல்வர் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.

மேலும், இந்த ஆண்டு ஒருங்கிணைந்த சாலை உட்கட்டமைப்பு மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டத்தின் கீழ், தமிழகத்தில் சாலை உட்கட்டமைப்பு பணிகளுக்காக 2,262 கோடியே 50 லட்சம் ரூபாய் நிதி ஏற்கனவே ஒதுக்கீடு செய்யப்பட்டது.

சாலை கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகளை ஏற்படுத்துவதில் மிகவும் முக்கியமானது பாலங்கள் அமைப்பது ஆகும். ஆறு மற்றும் நீர்பரப்புகளை சுலபமாக கடந்து சீரான வாகனப் போக்குவரத்து ஏற்படுத்துவதற்கு அவற்றின் குறுக்கே பாலங்கள் அமைக்கப்படுவது மிகவும் இன்றியமையாததாகும். எனவே முதல்வர் தமிழகத்தில் 27 மாவட்டங்களில் 235 கோடி ரூபாய் மதிப்பீட்டில் 121 பாலங்கள் அமைப்பதற்கு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.

இதன் அடிப்படையில் திருவள்ளூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 3 பாலங்களும், கடலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 4 பாலங்களும், விழுப்புரம் மாவட்டத்தில் 1 பாலமும், வேலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 1 பாலமும், திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டத்தில் 2 பாலங்களும், சேலம் மாவட்டத்தில் 8 பாலங்களும், நாமக்கல் மாவட்டத்தில் 5 கோடியே 70 லட்சம் ரூபாய் மதிப்பீட்டில் 4 பாலங்களும், தர்மபுரி மாவட்டத்தில் 5 பாலங்களும், ஈரோடு மாவட்டத்தில் 5 பாலங்களும், கரூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 3 பாலங்களும், திருப்பூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 5 பாலங்களும்,

கோயம்புத்தூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 4 பாலங்களும், திருச்சிராப்பள்ளி மாவட்டத்தில் 6 பாலங்களும், அரியலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 3 பாலங்களும், பெரம்பலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 2 பாலங்களும், புதுக்கோட்டை மாவட்டத்தில் 11 பாலங்களும், தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 3 பாலங்களும், நாகப்பட்டினம் மாவட்டத்தில் 7 பாலங்களும், திருவாரூர் மாவட்டத்தில் 2 பாலங்களும், மதுரை மாவட்டத்தில் 2 பாலங்களும், திண்டுக்கல் மாவட்டத்தில் 20 பாலங்களும், தேனி மாவட்டத்தில் 3 பாலங்களும், திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் 5 பாலங்களும், தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டத்தில் 2 பாலங்களும், சிவகங்கை மாவட்டத்தில் 5 பாலங்களும், ராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டத்தில் 2 பாலங்களும், விருதுநகர் மாவட்டத்தில் 3 பாலங்களும் என மொத்தம் 27 மாவட்டங்களில் 235 கோடி ரூபாய் செலவில் 121 பாலங்கள் கட்டப்படும்.

அரசின் இந்த நடவடிக்கைகள் மூலம், தமிழகத்தில் சாலை உட்கட்டமைப்பு வசதிகள் மேம்பாடு அடைந்து தமிழகத்தில் உள்ள அனைத்து பகுதிகளும் ஒன்றொடொன்று இணைக்கப்பட்டு, மக்கள் மற்றும் பொருட்கள் ஒரு பகுதியிலிருந்து மற்றொரு பகுதிக்கு சுலபமாகவும், விரைவாகவும், சென்றடைவதற்கு வழிவகை ஏற்படும் என்று கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.

வழக்கம் போல மானிய விலை சிலிண்டர்கள் ; வீரப்ப மொய்லி அதிரடி 

மானிய விலையில் வழக்கம்போல சிலிண்டர்களை வழங்கவும், நுகர்வோரை தொல்லைப்படுத்த வேண்டாம் என எண்ணெய் நிறுவனங்களை வீரப்ப மொய்லி கேட்டுக் கொண்டுள்ளார்.

சமையல் எரிவாயு சிலண்டஎகள் மீது மத்திய அரசு விதித்துள்ள கட்டுப்பாட்டு திட்டம் அக்டோபரில் அமல்படுத்தப்பட்டது. ஆனால் ஆண்டுக்கு 6 மானிய விலை சிலிண்டர் என்ற இந்த திட்டத்தால் நுகர்வோர் கடும் அதிர்ப்தி அடைந்துள்ளனர்.

இந்நிலையில் புதிய அமைச்சரவை மாற்றத்தில் புதிதாக பெட்ரோலியத்துறை அமைச்சராக பொறுப்பேற்றுள்ள வீரப்ப மொய்லி இது குறித்து ஆலோசனை நடத்தினார்.

இந்த கட்டுப்பாடு 2014-ல் மக்களவைத் தேர்தலில் எதிர்ப்பு எதிரொலிக்கும் என்று அந்த ஆலோசனையில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. இதனை அடுத்து நேற்று நுகர்வோரை தொல்லைப்படுத்தக்கூடாது என்று அரசு கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ள எண்ணெய் நிறுவனங்களிடம் வீரப்ப மொய்லி கேட்டுக் கொண்டுள்ளார்.

குறிப்பாக பண்டிகை காலங்களில் நுகர்வோரிடமிருந்து எந்த புகாரும் வராமல் பார்த்துகொள்ளும்படி அவர் அறிவிறுத்தியுள்ளார். சிலிண்டர்கள் மீது விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள கட்டுப்பாடுகள் குறித்து அரசு பரிசீலனை செய்துவருகிறது.

இதற்கு கால அவகாசம் தேவை, ஆனால் அந்த சமையத்தில் நுகர்வோர் சிரமப்படகூடாது என்பதற்க்காகவே தற்போதைக்கு மானிய விலை சிலிண்டர்களை வழக்கம் போல் வழங்க வேண்டும் என வீரப்ப மொய்லி கூறியிருப்பதாக பெட்ரோலியத்துறை அமைச்சக தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

2008-ம் ஆண்டு மும்பையில் நடந்த தாக்குதல் சம்பவத்துக்கு பிறகு பாகிஸ்தான் கிரிக்கெட் அணி முதல் முறையாக டிசம்பர் மாதம் இந்தியா வந்து இரண்டு 20 ஓவர் போட்டி மற்றும் 3 ஒரு நாள் போட்டிகளில் விளையாடுகிறது.
பாகிஸ்தான் அணி வருகைக்கு சிவசேனா தலைவர் பால்தாக்கரே எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்துள்ளார். பாகிஸ்தான் அணியை விளையாட அனுமதிக்கமாட்டோம் என்று மிரட்டல் விடுத்துள்ளார்.
இதற்கு மத்திய உள்துறை மந்திரி சுசில்குமார் ஷிண்டே பதிலடி கொடுத்துள்ளார்.
அவர் கூறியதாவது:-
விளையாட்டுடன் அரசியலை கலக்கக் கூடாது. இந்தியா வரும் பாகிஸ்தான் அணிக்கு பலத்த பாதுகாப்பு அளிக்கப்படும். மற்ற நாட்டு கிரிக்கெட் வீரர்கள் இந்தியா வருகிறார்கள். பாகிஸ்தான் வீரர்கள் மட்டும் வரவில்லை. அவர்களை பாதுகாப்பது நமது கடமை.
இதனால் அனைத்து பாதுகாப்பு ஏற்பாடு தொடர்பாக விவாதித்து வருகிறோம். மிகுந்த உஷார் நிலையில் உள்ளோம்.
இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார். 

புகையிலையை தொட மாட்டோம்: பீகாரில் 2 கோடி மாணவர்கள் உறுதிமொழி

பீகாரில் இன்று சுமார் 2.2 லட்சம் பள்ளிகளைச் சேர்ந்த சுமார் 2 கோடி மாணவர்கள், எங்களது வாழ்நாளில் புகையிலை உட்பட போதைப் பொருட்களை தொடமாட்டோம் என்று உறுதிமொழி எடுத்துள்ளனர்.
பீகாரில் உள்ள அரசு மற்றும் தனியார் பள்ளிகளைச் சேர்ந்த 2 கோடி மாணவர்கள் இந்த உறுதிமொழியேற்பு நிகழ்ச்சியில் பங்கேற்று, போதைப் பொருள் மற்றும் அது தொடர்பான எந்த பொருளையும் எங்களது வாழ்நாளில் தொட மாட்டோம் என்றும், எங்களது நண்பர்களும், குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்களும், உறவினர்களும் இதே உறுதிமொழியை ஏற்க வழி செய்வோம் என்று உறுதிமொழி எடுத்ததாக புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு சமூகத்தின் அதிகாரி ஏ.ஏ. ஹாய் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
பீகாரில் இன்று பல்வேறு இடங்களில் இந்த உறுதிமொழி ஏற்பு நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது.
பீகாரில் மொத்தமுள்ள 10.5 கோடி மக்களில், 53.3 விழுக்காட்டினர் போதைப் பொருள் பயன்படுத்துவோராக உள்ளனர். இது இந்திய மக்கள் தொகையில் 35 விழுக்காடு என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. மேலும், பள்ளிச் சிறுவர்கள் பலரும் போதைப் பொருள் பயன்படுத்தும் பழக்கம் அதிகரித்திருப்பதால், பள்ளி அளவில் இருந்து விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்த முயற்சி எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Description

The Gregorian calendar is an arithmetical calendar potentially extending over an infinite time scale. It consists of a series of contiguous calendar years identified by consecutive year numbers.[9] It is a solar calendar and counts days as the basic unit of time, grouping them into years of 365 or 366 days; and repeats completely every 146,097 days, which fill 400 years, and which also happens to be 20,871 seven-day weeks.[10][11]
Of these 400 years, 303 common years have 365 days and 97 leap years have 366 days. This yields a calendar mean year of exactly 365+97/400 days = 365.2425 days = 365 days, 5 hours, 49 minutes and 12 seconds. The same result is obtained by summing the fractional parts implied by the rule: 365 + 1⁄4 − 1⁄100 + 1⁄400 = 365 + 0.25 − 0.01 + 0.0025 = 365.2425

The Pacific Theater of Operations is the area of operations of U.S. forces during the Pacific War of 1941-45. A theater of operations is
a land or sea area, and the airspace above it, established to employ one's forces to neutralize a strategic threat to national or alliance/coalition interests in regional or general conflict; it is part of the theater (of war); normally the nation's highest leadership and the respective theater (of war) commander would designate a part of the theater as the theater of operations in case of a major regional or national emergency and general war; the theater of operations can also be established in the case of a major counterinsurgency effort.[1]:GL-22
From mid-1942 until the end of the war in 1945, there were two U.S. operational commands in the Pacific:
In addition, during 1945, General Carl Spaatz commanded the separate U.S. Strategic Air Forces in the Pacific.
Because of the complementary roles of the United States Army and the United States Navy in conducting war in the Pacific theater, there was no single Allied or U.S. commander (comparable to Eisenhower in the European Theater of Operations) in the Pacific. Indeed, the organizational structure was rather complex, requiring the frequent involvement of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Army and Navy commanders each reporting to both the Secretary of War and the Secretary of the Navy.

KOTTAR


 History of the Diocese









The diocese of Kottar comprises the four revenue divisions (taluks) of Thovalai, Agasteeswaram (except the parish of Azhagappapuram of Thoothukudi diocese) Kalkulam and Vilavancode (except the eight coastal parishes of Thiruvananthapuram Archdiocese) in the civil district of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.
  
Kanyakumari district has a unique position in the ecclesiastical map of India. Five Dioceses (Kottar, Thoothukudi and Thiruvananthapuram of the Latin rite, Thuckalay of Syro-Malabar rite and Marthandam of Syro-Malanakara rite) have their jurisdictions in this small district of 1685 square kilometres area. Besides the diocese of Kottar, Thuckalay and Marthandam dioceses, both established in 1996, have their headquarters in this district.
  
The area under the present diocese of Kottar had known the Christian faith several centuries before the arrival of the Portuguese on the West Coast. Monuments recently discovered in Chinna Muttom near Kanyakumari support it. The presence of St. Thomas Christians in Thiruvithancode, Kottar and other places in the district had also been attested by several missionaries under the Portuguese Padroado.
  
However with the arrival of the Portuguese missionaries, a small section of the local people known as Paravas became Christians in 1536-1537. Seven years after their conversion more than ten thousand fishermen known as 'Mukkuvas" in the coastal villages from Poovar( now in the archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram) to Pallam were baptized in 1544 by the greatest post-apostolic missionary of the Church, St. Francis Xavier. He was one among the first seven to take vows in the Society of Jesus founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1534. The present Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier encompasses the church of St. Mary built by Francis Xavier.
 
With renewed efforts of the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith (founded in 1622) Christian missionaries began to concentrate on and evangelize the interior parts of the area. Initially, attention was given to the conversion of the people of Vellala and Nair communities. Many from these communities embraced the Christian faith and prominent among them was the martyr of the diocese, Devasahayam Pillai (Lazar) aka Nilakanda Pillai.
  
He was born in the village of Nattalam in 1712 and was an official in the palace of King Marthanda Varma of Thiruvithancore. He was converted to Christian faith by the gentle efforts of a captured captain of the Dutch Navy, Eustachius De Lannoy who later became the Chief Admiral of the King's army (In Malayalam he was known as Valia Capitatan). Nilakanda Pillai was baptized as Lazar (Devasahayam) at the hands of Rev. Fr. John Baptist Buttari, S. J., Parish priest of Vadakkankulam in 1745. The king tried in vain to entice him back to Hinduism. Then, the enraged king ordered him to be arrested and shot to death. After enduring torture for three years, Devasahayam Pillai was taken to Kattadimalai, Alravaimozhi, and shot to death on January 14, 1752. His mortal remains were interred in the church of St. Francis Xavier, which in turn became the Cathedral of the Diocese of Kottar in 1930.
 
The 18th century witnessed the rapid growth of Christianity in the interior parts of the area, following large scale conversion of the people of Nadar community. Vencode and Karenkadu were the centres of evangelization and conversion. With the creation of Verapoly- Varapuzha- Vicariate, the Portuguese Padroado system came to an end in this area except in the then seven parishes from Eraymanthura to Neerodi. In 1853, Kollam vicariate was established and was placed under the care of the Belgian Carmelite missionaries. With the establishment of the Hierarchy in India in 1886, Kollam became a diocese that extended from Mavelikara in the north to Kottar( Nagercoil) in the south, and Kottar became the centre of the southern part of Kollam diocese.
 
The Swiss-born, Carmelite Bishop Aloysius Maria Benziger was the architect of present diocese of Kottar. His saintly life, missionary zeal and great pastoral leadership helped the formation of many Catholic communities especially in the southern part of Kollam diocese. Knowing education was important for the development of the people, Archbishop Benziger established schools in many of the coastal villages and founded St. Francis Teacher Institute at Assisi, Nagercoil, to train teachers for the schools. In all, he founded 112 schools in a short span of 25 years. Carmel High School and St. Joseph's School, Nagercoil, remain living monuments to the foresight of this great visionary and missionary.
 
Archbishop Benziger was among the first to request the Vatican to beatify the Carmelite nun, St. Theresa of the Child Jesus aka Little Flower and following her beatification he constructed the first church in the world at Kandanvilai( now in Kottar diocese)  and blessed it on April 7,1924, and  the second church was blessed on May 12, 1924 at Thoonkampara now in Neyyatinkara diocese. Accepting Pope Pius XI's invitation, Archbishop Benziger assisted at her canonization ceremony on May 17, 1925.

Thanks to his recommendation the southern part of Kollam diocese was formed as a new diocese on May 26, 1930, with Fr. Lawrence Pereira as its first bishop, the third Indian to become a bishop in the Latin rite. Bishop Lawrence Pereira was no stranger to the new diocese since he had ministered in Vencode and Enayam areas. He had to toil hard to build the infrastructure of the new diocese from scratch. He was called to the eternal reward on January 5, 1938.

Though Tamil was the predominant language of the new diocese, it was part of Thiruvithancore and Cochin State with Malayalam as the state language. Keeping in mind the linguistic aspirations of the people of the diocese, the Vatican appointed the Tiruchirapalli native and Superior of Palayamkottai Jesuit Mission, Rev. Thomas Roch Agniswamy as succesor to Bishop Lawrence Pereira in 1939. In the reorganization of States in 1956, Kanyakumari district became part of Madras State now known as Tamil Nadu. In 1963, the diocese of Kottar was detached from the Metropolitan See of Verapoly and attached to the archdiocese of Madurai.
   
Evangelization activites received much impetus during the tenure of Bishop Agniswamy. A great number of parishes, mission stations and schools were established. His special interest in the promotion of local vocation resulted in the founding of St.Aloysius Minor Seminary for the diocese and Tamil Nadu Xavier Mission Home for the missions.
  
Bishop Marianus Arckiasamy from Kumbakonam who succeeded Bishop Agniswamy in 1971, was committed to the implementation of the reforms of the Second Vatican Council, especially in the field of Bible, Liturgy, Catechetics and other pastoral activities. The setting up of sixteen diocesan commissions, Animation Centre, Pastoral and Youth Centers and formation of parish councils in more than fifty per cent of the parishes bear witness to his interests.
  
The communal riots that rocked Kanyakumari district in 1982, posed a great challenge to the diocese and to Bishop Arockiasamy. Premeditated and organized attacks on Christians and church properties shattered the calm of the otherwise peaceful district. In all, ten Catholics lost their lives to police and communal firings. Churches, convents and other religious places were vandalized and desecrated. People of Pallam parish had to flee for their lives. Coastal parishes were cut off from the main land and essential food supplies had to be carried through the sea. Bishop Arockiasamy and the Head of the Kundrakudi Hindu Mutt (Hermitage) and other religious leaders toured the affected areas to instill confidence in the people and peace returned to the riot-torn district. They founded" Thiruvarul Peravai"(Graceful Assembly) to foster communal and religious harmony. The Catholic Church in India and other parts of the world came to the help of the affected people. Bishop Arockiasamy continued to serve the diocese until his promotion as Archbishop of Madurai in 1987.
  
Fr. Leon A. Tharmaraj, who became the fourth bishop in 1989, was the first" son of the soil" to shepherd the diocese of Kottar. Bishop Leon faithfully carried forward the policies of his predecessor and went on further in making the diocese, truly the Church of the laity concentrating on the formation of Basic Christian (Ecclesial) Communities, pastoral and parish councils and encouraging lay leadership in the mission of the diocese.
     
The killer Tsunami waves that swept the coastal villages the day after Christmas in 2004 brought humongous miseries to the lives and properties of thousands of Christians. More than 800 people lost their lives and thousands of houses, fishing boats and many churches were damaged. Bishop Leon together with the entire diocese faced the challenge posed by the unprecedented loss and undertook to rebuild the lives and properties of the people. People from all walks of life irrespective of caste and creed joined in the valiant efforts of the diocese in rehabilitating the victims of the killer Tsunami. It is true the tragedies often bring the best in the human person and the Tsunami devastation witnessed the unprecedented outpouring of love and support from people of all walks of life in India and other parts of the world." One touch of nature makes the whole world kin".
   
The diocese lost a true shepherd in the sudden death of Bishop Leon on January 16, 2007. Bishop Peter Remigius, who hails from the diocese, was transferred from the diocese of Kumbakonam to the See of Kottar and installed on August 24, 2007. Consolidating the all round growth initiated by his predecessor, Bishop Remigius is outlining plans and programs to make the parishes and the diocese self sufficient and self supporting. To accelerate the mission work he is raising many mission centres into full-fledged parishes. People's participation in the mission of the church of Kottar needs special mention. They are enthusiastically joining and strengthening the parish and Diocesan councils, Finance Committees, Pastoral Council, Diocesan Commissions etc. All the parishes except a handful, have duly elected parish councils.
  
The diocesan process for the beatification of the Servant of God, Devasahayam Pillai, that commenced in 1993, concluded on September 7, 2008, and the documents were forwarded to Rome on 24th September 2008. The Roman process has already started and on 18th March 2010 the Congregation certified the validity of the documents. On 9th, July 2010 the Cause was assigned by the Congregation to the Most. Rev. From 95000 people in 25 parishes ministered by 32 priests, at the time of its formation in 1930, the Kottar Church, today after 80 years, marches on with 543789 Catholics in 161 parishes served by 278 priests.

St. Xavier Church is a Roman Catholic shrine located at Kottar, Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu state, India. While Saint Xavier was doing missionary work at Kottar and its neighbourhood, he averted an invasion of Padagas with the help of his cross alone and thus protected the people of Venad kingdom from that attack which was appreciated by the king, Unni Kerala Varma, who became closer to the Priest and befriended him then on. In recognition of Xavier’s services, the king allotted him a piece of land to construct a catholic church, as a gesture of goodwill, as per the church records. There was already a small church, in the same place where St. Xavier’s church stands at present, dedicated to Mother Mary since AD 1544 .[1] Church records show that St. Xavier Church was built in 1600CE. In AD 1865, the Shrine of Mother Mary was renovated and enlarged. In 1930CE, the church was raised to the status of a Cathedral. The annual festival is celebrated during November – December lasting for 10 days.

History

St.Francis Xavier, a Spanish Jesuit missionary, landed in Goa in May 1542 and he sailed from Goa to Cape Comorin in October 1542 on missionary tour to Travancore [2] Once a great band of dacoits attacked Travancore. Raja`s forces could`t combat the enemy successfully, but Xavier chased away the marauders at Vadasery by raising his Crucifix aloft and shouting at them. Very pleased with Xavier, the Raja showed special regards and gratitudes to him.[3][4] At Kottar, Xavier had a dwelling house and a small church. Tradition says that the heathens set fire to Xavier`s house and reduced it to ashes, but they were struck with awe when they saw the holy man on his knees devoutly praying, not in the least touched by the flames. To mark the place a cross was put up, to which miraculous powers were attributed. From the time the church was built on the spot, a lamp is kept perpetually burning. Even Hindus go there and make vows and pour oil. Miracles are recorded to have taken place there; and hence multitudes of devout Catholic pilgrims from British India, Ceylon and Malacca [5] resort to the annual festival at St. Xavier`s church, Kottar, about December of every year.

Name & fame

The primitive or original church which still subsists was built by St. Francis Xavier himself between the years AD 1542 and AD 1550.[6] Afterwards the Bishops of Cochin constructed a new and more spacious church that was richly endowed with precious ornaments and utensils gifted by the Kings of Portugal.[7] The mortal remains of Christian martyr Devasahayam Pillai were given a Christian burial in front of the high altar of St.Xavier`s church at Kottar in January AD 1752.[8] While being one of the oldest churches in the whole of erstwhile Southern Travancore, it is definitely the oldest Cathedral church of Roman Catholic Diocese of Kottar in the present-day`s Kanyakumari district (of Tamil Nadu) since there are three more dioceses got established here later on.
